Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly set to offer second-choice PSG right back Thomas Meunier a route out of the French capital and on to more consistent game time, according to the Express.
The Belgian defender has become the Parisian super club’s second-string right back following the arrival of Dani Alves in the summer. With the World Cup coming up next summer Meunier is now reportedly seeking a move away from PSG in order to secure more consistent game time and challenge for a spot in the Belgium squad.
Despite seeing his role diminish significantly since Alves’ arrival, Meunier has still bagged an impressive three goals and an assist in six appearances in Ligue 1 this season. The Belgian scored both goals in his side’s 1-2 away win over Dijon earlier this month and remains an immensely talented defender, providing an obvious attacking threat.
Right back is not a position of obvious weakness for Manchester United with long-time servant Antonio Valencia currently occupying the role. However Meunier could be the perfect long-term replacement for the 32-year old, as well as a potential solution for Jose Mourinho’s left back dilemmas.
It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach an agreement for the talented defender but a move to the Premier League could provide the perfect opportunity for Meunier to reignite his career.
