At this point everybody who watches football is hoping that somebody will rescue Manchester United left back Luke Shaw, who seems to be so far down Jose Mourinho’s list of potential starters that the Portuguese manager would rather play himself ahead of the England international.

Luckily for the forgotten man he could be set for a loan move to Newcastle, according to the Metro, which would at least allow him to escape his United nightmare for a while. With a World Cup coming up next summer this could be the perfect move for Shaw, and he could well end up forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s squad.

On the face of it Newcastle don’t look as if they are in a huge rush to shore up their defence as they have conceded 17 times in 13 games, but with only 11 goals scored the Magpies have been leaning heavily on their back line.

The addition of Shaw could not only help prevent Rafa Benitez’s side from leaking too many goals, but could also add an additional attacking threat as the fullback is quite effective in the attacking areas.

Shaw has yet to play a single minute in the Premier League this season, and for a player whose talent is obvious whenever he is fit and firing this is something that needs to change.
