The January transfer window is sure to bring about some interesting deals and there is one recent rumour in particular that has caught the eye of both Manchester United and Tottenham fans alike. The Premier League giants could be set to trade left-backs, with Luke Shaw making the move to North London and Danny Rose travelling in the opposite direction up to Manchester, according to the Guardian.
United manager Jose Mourinho has never been a huge fan of Shaw and the reports today suggest that the pair aren’t even on speaking terms at the present time. The defender has made just two appearances for the Manchester club this season, both of which have come in the Carabao Cup. With both Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian ahead of the England international in the pecking order it is essential that Shaw takes action to establish some regular game time, especially with the 2018 World Cup just around the corner.
Danny Rose on the other hand has been sidelined for almost ten months through injury and is only just making his way back into the Tottenham setup. However with the dazzling form of Wales international Ben Davies, along with Rose’s previous public comments regarding his club’s wage structure, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the left back seek a change in scenery.
The two players will be in direct competition for the England left back spot in Russia next summer and it remains to be seen both if this deal materialises and who reaps the greater rewards.
